RVR: Paris’s Hub for Talk, Culture, and Community

Since its inception in 1981, RVR (Radio Vie Réelle) has carved out a unique niche in Paris’s radio landscape as a station dedicated to talk and speech programming. Founded by a dedicated team of Jean-Pierre Deroire, Henri Pachoux, André Tauvron, Jean-Jacques Carletto, and a host of passionate volunteers, RVR first broadcast on January 1, 1982, and has since evolved into a significant voice in French media.

RVR's programming is a rich tapestry of current affairs, politics, culture, and lifestyle discussions. The station is renowned for its in-depth interviews and thoughtful discussions with experts and opinion leaders, offering listeners a deeper dive into the issues that shape their world. This focus on substantive content makes RVR a valuable resource for those seeking insights and perspectives beyond the mainstream.

In addition to its talk-based content, RVR also features a diverse array of music, including classical and jazz. This musical variety complements its spoken word programming, creating a well-rounded listening experience that appeals to a broad audience.

Despite its growth and professionalization—now employing four staff members alongside a dedicated team of around fifty volunteers—RVR remains committed to its founding principles of open dialogue, passion, and solidarity. The station’s ongoing engagement with its community and its emphasis on providing a platform for diverse voices underscore its role as a beacon of alternative media in France.

RVR’s dedication to cultural and political discourse, coupled with its rich musical offerings, makes it a distinctive and valued presence in Paris’s radio scene. For listeners interested in a more nuanced and engaging approach to radio, RVR provides a compelling alternative.
