Radio Liban: A Historical Voice of Lebanon
Radio Liban, a venerable institution in Lebanese broadcasting, has been a cornerstone of media in Lebanon since its inception in 1934. As one of the oldest radio stations in the Middle East, it continues to hold a significant place in the region's media landscape. Owned and operated by the Lebanese government, Radio Liban broadcasts in Arabic, serving as a crucial source of information, culture, and music to its listeners.
Initially established under the name Radio Al Sharq during the presidency of Émile Eddé, the station was located in the historic Saray building, which formerly housed the Lebanese government offices. The first director of the Arabic section was Albert Adib, with the celebrated poet Said Akl joining as an Arabic broadcaster. This early blend of political support and cultural expertise set the stage for Radio Liban's influential role in Lebanese media.
Radio Liban offers a diverse range of programming that includes news, music, and cultural shows. Its broadcasts are not limited to domestic content; the station also airs programs from international sources, including France, the United States, and the United Kingdom, reflecting a global perspective alongside local insights.
Available on FM, AM, and online platforms, Radio Liban ensures that its programming reaches a broad audience both within Lebanon and beyond. The station remains dedicated to delivering quality content that resonates with listeners, preserving its legacy while adapting to modern media consumption.
As a historic and public service broadcaster, Radio Liban continues to play a pivotal role in Lebanon's cultural and informational landscape, bridging the past and present with a commitment to excellence in broadcasting.
